Bold cantilevered forms are thoughtfully counterbalanced by solid, grounded elements. The exterior palette is inspired by the surrounding landscape of hills and aspen trees, featuring black-stained channel siding, gray board-formed concrete, honey-toned glulam beams, and black-painted steel.
A standout element of the design is the Loewen Timber Wall, which frames breathtaking views to the west, overlooking the Snowmass Ski Area and Snowmass Village below.
Materials
The Snowmass House draws inspiration from its alpine surroundings, blending natural and industrial materials in balance. The structure combines black-stained channel siding, board-formed concrete, glulam beams, and painted steel—each chosen to reflect the color and texture of the hills and aspen forests surrounding the site.
Brands
At the heart of the design is a dramatic Loewen Timber Wall—selected for its ability to support expansive glass while maintaining warmth, depth, and structural integrity. Loewen’s high-performance systems help anchor the home visually and functionally, framing breathtaking views of the Snowmass Ski Area and village beyond.
Key Finishes
A curated finish palette adds contrast and character: matte black framing meets warm honey-toned wood, while raw concrete and steel bring strength and edge. This interplay of dark, refined, and natural surfaces reinforces the home’s contemporary alpine identity—grounded in its setting, yet boldly expressive.
